It will take 12-18 months to develop, test and deploy a viable vaccine which is to create immunity, which means the body is equipped to combat the virus should we be infected.
In the meantime, the medical community is figuring out how to reduce the medical challenges faced after we have been infected, and to increase the survival rate for the people who develop severe symptoms.
